News
04/02/2012 - Evolved Online Games Instant
I've push an updated to
Evolved Online Games Instant which fixes some fairly critical bugs (ie, it hadn't been working for a while), and also now links to the
Evolved Online Games app instead of ChromePlay.com, due to my increased focus on the app instead of the site.
If you use Evolved Online Games, the Instant extension is a great way to fund out when new games are added. It also has a new logo to better match the app, install it free from
the Web Store.
02/02/2012 - Paste It 2.1
I just updated
Paste It to 2.1 which fixes a bug that prevents some types of pastes. If you haven't tried it yet Paste It is a really useful little extension that lets you very quickly paste your email address or anything you want into forms, download for free from the
Chrome Web Store.
26/11/2011 - Evolved Online Games Update
As
Evolved Online Games soars past 50,000 users, I'm making some significant changed to the application structure, which will eventually see it completely separated from it's original parent site ChromePlay.com.
It's not a straight forward task so you may notice some strange behaviour during this time, but I have some great features planned and I'm confident that it'll be worth the effort.
26/10/2011 - Evolved Online Games 3.1 - Multi-platform
Evolved Online Games now has 30,000 users in Chrome, making it the most popular multi-game app available. So I'm pushing it out further with support for multiple platforms, as of the new version 3.1. All future updates will roll out to every platform simultaneously.
The first of these plaftorms is Facebook, which you can
try here. As more platforms are added I'll be linking to them from
EvolvedOnlineGames.com, where you can also copy embed code to add it to your own site.
31/08/2011 - Evolved Online Games 3.0 - Tabs, Infinite Scrolling
Evolved Online Games has been updated to version 3.0, which features a major redesign of the homepage so the Latest, Random and Favorites sections are split into separate tabs, giving a lot more space for games. There's also further improvements to the App's fluid width, so it can adapt to most windows sizes. Best of all is the new Twitter-esque infinite scrolling so it's much easier to browse through the 800 games available.
As always the app updates automatically, or newcomers can grab it free from the
Chrome Web Store. More big things to come!
21/08/2011 - Papercuts 3.0 Released - Keyboard Shortcuts, Updated UI
Papercuts 3.0 is out now! This update bring much-requested keyboard shortcuts, so you can instantly paste notes into form fields without touching your mouse. You can assign one of nine shortcuts to any note from the Notebook.

Chrome Web Store, users of earlier versions will be automatically updated.
14/07/2011 - Paste It 1.1
Paste It hasn't has many installs, but it's something I use quite often myself, so I hope the new 1.1 update will attract a few new users with Mac support and other tweaks. The extenson lets you set a field of text to paste instantly with Alt+V, the context menu or a toolbar icon. Works great with your email address! Download for free from the
Chrome Web Store.
13/06/2011 - Evolved Online Games 2.2
Evolved Online Games is now at version 2.2, which brings further enhancements to the InfoBar, including in-app game details, tooltip rollovers and a lights on/off button. Try it from the
Chrome Web Store.
09/05/2011 - Evolved Online Games 2.1
Just in time for the inevitable Chrome announcements at
Google I/O tomorrow, I've updated
Evolved Online Games to version 2.1. This update switches the UI a fluid scaling, so the various elements will scale and reposition to fit the browser window. There's also some clean up on the game InfoBar.
Evolved Online Games has nearly 6000 users now, if you haven't tried it you can install for free from the
Chrome Web Store.
20/03/2011 - Evolved Online Games Instant
Due to new policies in the Chrome Web Store, extensions can't have Chrome in their name, so ChromePlay Instant is now called
Evolved Online Games Instant. Current users will be updated automatically, and might notice some other UI and performance tweaks, as I've upgraded it to version 5.0.
I won't be renaming ChromeCuts as it's now been replaced by
Papercuts. I strongly recommend switching if you haven't already, as I can't say for sure what will happen to the old extension.
26/02/2011 - Papercuts 2.2
Papercuts has just been updated to version 2.2, a minor update that brings various UI changes, bug fixes and performance improvements. Current users will be updated automatically, or install free from the
Chrome Web Store.
24/02/2011 - Play Search
I just released another Omnibox add-on called
Play Search, which lets you search through the games from
ChromePlay.com just by typing "play". Install it free from the
Chrome Web Store.
21/02/2011 - History Search
New extension!
History Search lets you search through your browsing history by typing "h " plus your query in the Omnibox. Especially handy in Chrome 10+, where the "See recent pages..." dialogue in Omnibox results has been removed.
It's fairly simple but works well, I hope a few people find it useful. You can install it for free from the
Chrome Web Store.
13/02/2011 - Evolved Online Games V2.0
Since I launched the
Evolved Online Games app with the Chrome Web Store in December, it's become my most successful Chrome add-on yet, with over 3,500 users to date. Today I've updated the app to Version 2.0, which adds a search bar to filter the Latest Games, as well as a number of
other improvements.
Current users will be updated automatically, if you don't have it yet you can install it for free from the
Chrome Web Store. What do you want next? Comments, Favorite management, categories?
Let me know!
31/01/2011 - New Extension - Paste It
I just a released a new extension called
Paste It, that lets you set a piece of text and instantly paste it into web forms. Works great with your email address! You can download it from the
Chrome Web Store for free.
It's a bit like a lite version of
Papercuts, with the benefit of only needing to click once to paste your text. There's also a bonus keyboard shortcut feature - hit Alt+V to paste your text without any need for your mouse. I hope to bring keyboard shortcuts to Papercuts soon.
15/01/2011 - Papercuts 2.1 - Instant Paste
Papercuts has been updated to version 2.1 with a new Instant Paste feature. Now you can right-click input fields on web pages to see a list of your notes in the Context Menu, which you can click to paste it in the field. I've always been hoping to add this, shout out to James from
deVolf for help on this one.
Additionally 2.1 has a new Help section on the Options page and a bunch of other changes,
find out more here and get it from the
Chrome Web Store.
Note - Current Papercuts users will be automatically updated to 2.1 as always, but will need to re-enable due to added permissions for Papercuts to have access to forms on web page for Insant Paste.
04/01/2011 - Canary Theme
Taking a small break from Extensions and Apps, I've put together a new
Theme called Canary. This is designed for use with the Canary build of Chrome, to help users differentiate between the two browsers (as they can run simultaneously).
I know it's not a completely original idea, but I wanted something more subtle the alternatives out there. Even if you don't use Canary, it's a nice yellow theme for general use, and you can
get it here.
19/12/2010 - Evolved Online Games 1.1
Thanks to everyone who's been trying out my
Web Apps so far. Despite being a bit rubbish, the most popular one so far has been the Chrome App version of
Egg Snatch, which has had over 1200 installs. That's a lot of people flailing about to avoid badly drawn chickens.
Evolved Online Games (AKA the
ChromePlay App) has been doing well too, with 1153 installs since it's launch. I've just updated it to Version 1.1, which has new navigation buttons so you can cycle through the latest/favorite games and also refresh the random ones. I have plans for more features, such as searching and in-app comments.
06/12/2010 - Papercuts 2.0 Released
Papercuts 2.0 is here! Sorry it took longer than expected, but I hope you find the wait worth it. If you have 1.6 you should find your extension updated automatically soon and transfer your old notes. If you don't have it yet, install from
the Google gallery.
As mentioned before, the big new feature is Pages - a new tabbed interface that lets you separate your notes into specific groups. For example, you could keep your form details in one Page and reminders in another. If you click a tab twice you can see the Page Edit bar that lets you reorder and rename them. You can even drag a note to the tab bar to move it to a different Page!
Also new is Context Menu support! Right-click any text in a page and choose "Add to new Papercut" to find it waiting there for you when you open the Popup. Great for taking notes quickly if you're writing an essay or blog post.
The interface has had a major overhaul too, with new icons and a fixed header/footer which makes things much easier when you have lots of notes.
Find out more about Papercuts 2.0 here,
drop a comment or just go enjoy the update! More big news later this week.
14/10/2010 - Papercuts 2.0 Preview
While Google
delay the release of the Chrome Web Store and my seven Apps that will launch with it, I'm taking equally as long with
Papercuts 2.0. The end is near though, and here's a small preview. Multiple tabs ("pages"), context menu support, fixed header/footer are a few of that things that will make it to the final release.
All data from Papercuts 1.x will transfer automatically when the extension updates, but as there are a lot of backend changes I suggest backing up any important notes to be extra safe.
09/10/2010 - Things coming soon
Not much news recently, so just a quick update of reassurance that things are happening. I've been busily prepping for the
Chrome Web Store which is due to launch this month. As well as my previously mentioned Apps I have a few more surprises, so expect plenty of news when that launches.
In
extension news, work on
Papercuts 2.0 has taken a while but is now well under way and I'm really excited about some of the changes. Look out for announcements in the next few weeks.
13/09/2010 - ChromePlay App
You can now try out my second App for the upcoming
Chrome Web Store, the
ChromePlay Web App. Much like the
extension, the App pulls in games from
ChromePlay.com, but unlike the extension, clicking a game will let you play it instantly right from the App.
I'm wondering how many Apps in the store will be repackaged Flash games, but I hope that the prospect of 500 games in one App puts this above the rest. That said, I will also be releasing a couple of my Flash games as indivudual Apps.
06/09/2010 - Paper Notes
First off, sorry if your waiting on updates to
Papercuts or any of my other extensions. These projects are currently on the back burner while I focus on new projects to be ready in time for the launch of the
Chrome Web Store.
The good news is that you can try one of these apps already!
Paper Notes is a note keeping app with clear similarities to my Papercuts Chrome extension, but has been completely created from scratch in GWT and App Engine so you can store notes with your Google account and access them from any browser including mobile devices.
Until the web store launches, the app is pre-beta and hasn't been widely tested. Still, please
try it for yourself and
email me if you have any bug reports or suggestions.
19/07/2010 - Papercuts 1.5
Papercuts has just been updated to version 1.5. This semi-major update brings the Notebook feature out of beta with some great new features such as disabling notes from showing in the popup. See the full list of changes
here.
10/07/2010 - Lets Go
If you're using Chrome's Dev channel, you might have noticed that the Go button has been removed. Admittedly I rarely used it myself, but as a few people have been complaining about this I've put together a replacement Go Button extension. This is only for users of Chrome 6.0 - if you're using the stable version of Chrome this will not be of any use to you yet.
You can try it out from the
Extension gallery. I've also added it to a new
Extensions Page to simplify the site's navigation now things are getting a bit full.
05/07/2010 - Papercuts 1.3, Drag and Drop
Now you can finally drag and drop notes to reorder them in
Papercuts version 1.3, which should make organizing your notes faster and easier. I have a couple more 1.x releases to push out before starting work on Papercuts 2.0, due for release later in the year.
02/07/2010 - Google Themes
I've put together a new theme for Chrome in classic Google colors. Install it from the Google gallery in either the
Aero or
Non-Aero version. Got any theme requests?
Email me and I'll see what I can do!
28/06/2010 - Papercuts 1.2, Notepad
Papercuts 1.2 is out now, which introduces the new Notebook feature which lets you manage your notes in wide-screen from the Options page. I have much more planned for the Notebook in coming weeks. V1.2 also has some bug fixes, see
the changelog for more info.
13/06/2010 - Papercuts 1.1, Quick Paste
Thanks to everyone who has installed
Papercuts already. I've just updated it to version 1.1, which adds a new shortcut so you can press CTRL+V (or your OS equivalent) after you open the popup to create a new note with your clipboard contents.
Originally I had something bigger planned for this release but I've decided to hold it off for a future version while I finish it off.
01/06/2010 - New Extension is here - Papercuts!
Today sees the release of my follow-up extension to ChromeCuts -
Papercuts! You can install it now from
the Google gallery. If you used ChromeCuts, I strongly recommend switching over as this is to replace the previous extension.
This isn't just a new name and icon, there's also loads of new features and major speed improvements. The biggest change is that you can now store multi-line, unlimited text, making this a much more fully fledged note-keeeping application. For all the changes see the new
Papercuts homepage.
If you have any bug reports or suggestions please don't hesitate to
let me know. Hope you enjoy using Papercuts!
29/05/2010 - New Extension Details
Next week will see the released of my 'follow-up' to
ChromeCuts, and although a few things will be kept as a surprise (including the name), here's a few things to expect. First off,
here's the new icon, created with help of someone with far more design talent than me. Next up,
here's a screenshot of the new popup - notes now allow multiple lines and have no storage limit!
Expect lots more new features and some significant speed improvements when the new extension is launched next week.
24/05/2010 - ChromeCuts to be relaunched
Within the next few weeks I'll be relaunching
ChromeCuts with a new name, new icon, vastly improved performance and some major new features.
The code and storage method has been completely redone, so I can't push this as an upgrade. I won't be removing ChromeCuts but I'd recommend that all users switch to the new extension for the improvements and future updates.
I hope that copying your data across wont be too inconvenient, and I'm confident that you'll love the benefits the upgrade will bring. Check back soon for updates!
22/05/2010 - ChromePlay Theme
I've taken my first venture in Chrome Themes with a grey theme designed to match my
ChromePlay website. As with my extensions, you can install it from the
Google gallery. Makes a great counterpart to the
ChromePlay extension!
Update - Now there's also an
Aero version, and I've started up a new
Themes page here for these and future themes I make.
16/05/2010 - Article on ghacks
Tech website
ghacks.net have written a great article about
ChromeCuts,
read it here!. ChromeCuts has had mentions in a few articles before, but this is the first I've seen dedicated to it. Thanks ghacks!

changelog for more info.
11/05/2010 - Like Buttons
You might've noticed me trying some social media with
ChromeCuts and
ChromePlay, both extensions have been updated with share links. These are an initial test to see how effective social media sharing can work with extensions - if you have any opinions, or even complaints, don't hesititate to let me know.
Next up is a trial of Facebook's new Like button. I've added one of these to both the web pages and I'm looking into ways to implement it directly in the extensions. Anyone tried anything similar?
24/04/2010 - ChromeCuts 3.0 out now!
ChromeCuts version 3.0 is finally out! The most notable change is the new Options page with a tabbed interface to make room for new features in this and future releases.
Download it from the Google Extension gallery.
There's over 10 other improvements that you can read from the
changelog., making this the biggest update ever. My favorite is the new 'autoclose on copy' option, in fact I liked this so much I made it the default behaviour.
Please post your comments
over at Google, and if you like ChromeCuts be sure to
tell your friends about it.
21/04/2010 - Facebook/Twitter share links
The pages for both
ChromeCuts and
ChromePlay now have buttons for sharing them on Facebook or Twitter, if you like either of them why not let your friends know too.
The Facebook thumbnail for ChromeCuts might looks a bit different - because it's taken from the soon-to-be-released version 3.0!
05/04/2010 - Things to come in ChromeCuts

18/02/2010 - Soon...
Just posting some reassurance that I'm busily working away on

07/02/2010 - ChromePlay 4.0
ChromePlay is now version 4.0! This major update hooks it up to the
ChromePlay.com database so you can access your Favorite games and show them within the extension. The My Favorites page on the ChromePlay website just got an update too, so you can reorganize your Favorites which will effect the order they appear in the extension.
